How much does QHA Trent charge for accreditation services?

Calculating the overall cost (including fees, surveyor flight
costs & surveyor living expenses) associated with a typical
first survey (with an included pre-survey visit) of a hospital, polyclinic, clinic or residential care home delivered entirely by UK-sourced experts

QHA Trent believes in transparency in charging.

When surveying a hospital or a clinic with beds, the charges incurred take into account a number of factors, including:
  • the number of beds in the hospital/clinic etc.
  • the number of surveyors needed and the number of days the survey will take (which, in turn, are based on the size of the hospital/clinic etc.)
  • public versus private ownership of the hospital/clinic etc
  • any optional services requested
  • the fees charged by QHA Trent
Prices for working with clinics without beds will be subject to a different scale of fees.

The Total cost for a QHA Trent survey
= the sum of (1) + (2) + (3) + (4) +/- (5) +/-(6)

(1) QHA Trent’s fee for arranging the pre-survey visit

See below

(2) QHA Trent's fee for arranging the survey

See below

(3) Pre-survey visit - costs associated with travel and subsistence

  • Undertaken by one to two UK-sourced experts
  • Four to five days duration in total
    • Pre-survey visit – lasting 2 days
    • 1 to 2 days prior to pre-survey visit (to allow for jet lag recovery etc.)
    • 1 day post-visit
  • Air fare X 1 or 2
  • Combined hotel costs and expert’s per diem X 1 or 2

(4) The survey itself - costs associated with travel and subsistence

  • Undertaken by two to six UK-sourced surveyors (occassionally more)
  • Five to nine days duration (occasionally more or less)
    • 2 to 6 days survey period
    • 1 to 2 days pre-survey (to allow for jet lag recovery etc.)
    • 1 day post-survey
  • Air fares X 2 to 6
  • Combined hotel costs and surveyors’ per diem X 2 to 6

(5) Optional: Cost of two to three day preparatory training seminar delivered by 2 experienced UK-sourced speakers

  • QHA Trent’s fee for arranging the seminar (see below)
  • Total duration – 5 days (to allow for jet lag recovery etc.)
  • Air fares X 2
  • Combined hotel costs and speakers’ per diem X 2
(6) Circumstantial:  Fee taken by agent or other intermediary for interfacing between hospital or clinic and QHA Trent

  • This only applies where a local agent or other intermediary has brokered the arrangement between the hospital or clinic and QHA Trent Accreditation
  • Where the services of QHA Trent are being accessed through such an intermediate, a sum equivalent to one third (1/3) of QHA Trent’s published fees for pre-surveys, surveys and mock surveys will be added to the overall charges that the client will be invoiced for.  This situation will be clearly explained and agreed to in the contracts signed between QHA Trent and clients
  • This additional payment (which will represent 25% of the total amount for fees being paid by the client to cover fees for services rendered) will be transferred to the agent or other intermediary, and will represent the agent or intermediary's remuneration for bringing new hospitals and clinics into the QHA Trent accreditation process
  • This payment to the agent or intermediary will not include any other payments made by clients that are intended solely to cover the travel expenses (flights, hotels, per diem, travel health insurance etc.) of QHA Trent surveyors engaged in pre-surveys, mock surveys and surveys, and any other services.

To reiterate, the total cost of the survey= the sum of (1) + (2) + (3) + (4) +/- (5) +/- (6)

Resurveying after Two Years and beyond

QHA Trent's policy is to re-survey a healthcare provider every two years. This is based on a policy of putting the interests of patients and staff-at-risk first.

The costs of the pre-survey prior to the two-yearly resurveys are the same as for the first survey.  The costs of the re-surveying are less than for the first survey, and are contained in the tablets below.

Two surveyors are always used for surveys of GP clinics and Dental Clinics, both to ensure probity and transparency as well as the personal security of surveyors. These surveys usually take about 1.5 to 2 days to complete, provided all the preparatory work is in place.

The cost of hotel accommodation and living expenses for surveyors, and the cost of air flights (based either on economy class or business class, based upon distance and flight duration), will be calculated at the time of quoting an overall figure for the engaging in the accreditation process.

Additional points
1. Please note that any fees charged will go towards covering QHA Trent’s management and administration costs, and also contribute to QHA Trent’s own quality control costs (e.g. UKAF, ISQua etc).
2.
The fees, air fares and other living costs mentioned above will compare favourably with those charged by other competing accreditation schemes.
3. The hospital or clinic will provide and pay for the venue and the IT equipment needed for any seminar or other meeting that takes place.  Any number of people can attend such meetings.
4. The results of the survey, in the form of a written report, will be sent to the hospital or clinic prior to finalisation.  The report can then either be discussed with the Accreditation Award Panel either in person, at the meeting in the UK (the hospital or clinic will then pay for their representative(s) to travel to the UK), or a telephone or video conference between key individuals can be organised.
5.
The final decision of the accreditation award panel will subsequently be given to the hospital or clinic.
6.
Arrangements for any additional preparatory work desired, and the charges for such work, can be established by contacting the QHA Trent team (see below).
7.
All payments are to be made in advance of any service provided by QHA Trent commencing.
8. All prices are quoted in UK pounds sterling, payable at the prevailing exchange rate.
9. It is the choice of the hospital or clinic themselves if they wish to work through an agent or directly with QHA Trent.
10. QHA Trent reserves the absolute right to vary its fees as and when it feels it to be desirable or necessary. Its policy is to always keep customers fully informed about this process.
11. For further information, please contact the QHA Trent Healthcare team – see the "Contact QHA" page.
